Samson has been adopted!
Sponsored for Catherine’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Catherine from your fellow dog lovers!
Some who follow Save Me available dogs may think Samson (we call him Sammy) looks familiar. You are right. Sammy was adopted a few months ago, but he is back looking for a new home. More on that came about later.
Sammy came to Save Me after spending the first two and a half years of his life as a breeding male in a puppy mill. Despite a tough start to his life, Sammy is a remarkably happy, gentle and well adjusted little boy. He has a very innocent manner to him. He is well behaved in the house and is thrilled to meet new dogs and people when out for a walk.
He is very good on a leash and always up for a car ride (he recently did a road trip to Florida, and loved it). He has learned a number of commands. He is not destructive nor aggressive. He loves to be touched and cuddled on the couch. He will melt in your arms if you pick him up and cradle him. Sammy has spent his whole life living with other dogs. He gets comfort from them and loves to play. So, he needs a home that has a dog that likes to have good puppy energy play. He also needs a family that can keep him active. Sammy does fine with children.
He is neutered, up to date on shots, and has a microchip.
He would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day as he has already spent so much of his life alone. He has a loud bark and also needs space to burn off energy. As such, a house with a good sized secure yard is essential.

Now, how did this beautiful boy end up back in our care? Sammy was adopted by family who for four months provided him with love, training and a great life that helped him develop as a dog. But for some reason, Sammy had a fear of his adopted dad (but not of other men). Despite all the efforts of his new family to help Sammy overcome his fear they were not successful and they made the hard decision to do what was best for Sammy and have him move to a new home.
