Orchid has been adopted!
Sponsored by 6 year old Cooper, who asked that half of his birthday money be donated to Save Me. Happy Birthday Cooper!
Meet Orchid! This girl is even more beautiful than the flower she is named after.
Orchid came to us as a stray after she was found abandoned with the rest of her litter in Tennessee. Her foster mom has been working with Orchid on her confidence and trust, but she is still very shy and timid around new people and can be a bit skittish at times. However, once you gain her trust, she is an extremely sweet, cuddly, affectionate and goofy puppy.
Orchid gets along well with the two resident dogs in her foster home. She loves chasing her foster sisters in the yard and playing tug of war with toys. We also recently discovered that she loves snow!
Orchid is 90% crate and housetrained, but will still have the occasional accident if she gets nervous or scared. She is good on a leash but is fearful of loud cars and busy traffic, so a quiet neighborhood, or a home with a large fenced yard would be ideal for her.
This special girl will require a very special, dedicated home that will continue to work on her confidence and trust issues. Her adopters will need to understand that there will be a transition period where she will revert back to being shy and scared, so a home with previous rescue experience, or experience with dealing with shy dogs would be preferred. Young children startle and scare Orchid, so she will need a home with older children (16+), or no children at all. Orchid is still unsure of most men but is slowly coming around to her foster dad and has recently started cuddling up to him on the couch.
Basic obedience training to help work on increasing Orchid’s confidence and create a bond with her adopter is highly recommended.
This beautiful girl is a diamond in the rough and definitely worth the work and commitment that she requires. She has warmed her foster mom’s heart with the tremendous progress she has made over the last 6 weeks.
Orchid was lovingly fostered by Nicole G.
