Denny

Denny has been adopted!

Sponsored in celebration of Bowie’s Gotcha Day.

Hello, my name is Denny but foster mom sometimes calls me wiggle bum because my tail is always wagging. I weigh about 30 pounds. While they think I am about 4 years old, I can act like a 6-month old puppy. I have lots of energy but I can also settle. I like to snuggle with my human and to get cuddles. I will follow you around the house. I like everyone I have met and I like to be petted. Foster mom has been asked what breed I am and she says Tennessee mutt. I likely have some hound or beagle in me. Everyone comments on my beautiful brindle coat and big brown eyes.

Foster mom says I learn quickly with the help of some treats. I have learned my name and to sit. I’m working on not jumping up to get what I want since it doesn’t get me anything. I’m working on my recall but right now I need to be on a leash if the area isn’t fenced.

Foster mom has two smaller dogs and several cats. I try to get the dogs to play but they aren’t too sure about playing because I am so much bigger. One of them didn’t like me when I first arrived but he is better now and we have slept together. If he told me to go away, I listened to him and stopped trying to get him to play. I have met other bigger dog friends and I enjoy playing and running with them.  I prefer to chase rather than be chased. And I like to wrestle with dogs of all sizes. If I want to chase foster mom’s cats, she calls me away and I’m a good boy and stop. However, I will jump baby gates. Foster mom wonders if I would enjoy agility.

I will eat soft dog toys so foster mom got me a harder toy that I can’t destroy and eat. I will steal and chew just about anything so you need to dog proof your house for me so I will stay safe and so will your things. I can be mouthy so no one gets hurt, I need in a home with older children.

I stay in my crate while foster mom is out and at night. Sometimes, I’ll bark a bit when she first leaves and my bark is BIG so apartment life isn’t for me. I love to run outside so a fenced yard is best. I’m learning to come when called. I’m house trained.

The ideal home for me would have another similar sized dog that likes to play and wrestle. It would have a fenced yard and an active family that will take me for walks or runs. Older respectful children would be okay.
