Dean is available for adoption
Sponsored by Cole, Bryson and Maeve because every dog deserves safe and loving home.
Hello, my name is Dean and I am looking forward to getting my own family. I am a Jack Russell Terrier mix and about 12 pounds. I am about a year old and foster mom says I am very puppy like. I have a lot of energy but I can also settle. I love to snuggle with my human. I like everyone I have met. While I haven’t met any children, foster mom thinks I would be fine with older respectful children. I love toys and a bone but I will chew anything so I need to be supervised so I don’t get into anything you don’t want me to get. I also like food so training will be easier.
Foster mom says I learn quickly. She was surprised that I know my name. House trained is a work in process. If you don’t get me outside as soon as I get out of my crate, I may have an accident in the house. Foster mom takes me for a walk when she comes home. She says it is so I will burn off some of my energy.
Foster mom has two smaller dogs and several cats. I try to get the dogs to play and they have played a bit. I think I have won over the bigger one (20 pounds) but if he has had enough, he tells me off and I back off. I have met some of foster mom’s cats. I wish they would play with me. However, if they run, I will chase them. I met foster mom’s friend’s large dog and it didn’t go well so big dogs may not be for me.
I stay in my crate while foster mom is out and at night. Sometimes, I’ll cry a bit when she first leaves. I love to run outside so a fenced yard is best. And you could throw a ball for me and I may bring it back.
The ideal home for me would have another similar sized dog that likes to play. You also need to be an active family so I can use my energy. It would have a fenced yard. If you have cats or respectful older children, I would be okay with that.
As is very common in small dogs, Dean has a luxating patella in his right, rear leg. The vet graded it as 2-3 and his mobility is not affected. This grade of luxation is not requiring surgical intervention. To optimize Dean not having issues in the future, he needs to be kept at a healthy weight. Supplements such as glucosamine chondroitin and/or omegas can also be helpful.
I hope to meet you soon.
