Shotzy is no longer accepting applications

Rocky’s brother, Henry, is a Save Me rescue and is learning to live life without his best friend always by his side. More than anything, Rocky would want another dog to live their very best life, just like his brother Henry.
Shotzy spent the first three years of her life making puppies in a puppy mill. She only escaped as she developed bladder stones that needed treatment which her owner was either unable or unwilling to provide. So, she ended up in a shelter where she got the treatment she needed and is now ready to start the life she deserves.
Shotzy is very well-adjusted. She is house trained, good with other dogs and people, quiet and gentle. She has beautiful white teeth and is up to date on her shots. She is spayed. She has no problems with stairs or getting on and off furniture (a place where she spends a lot of time).
Laid back is the best way to describe Shotzy. She loves goes for a walks. She rarely barks. If you watch the video below, you will see Shotzy running around the yard playing with other dogs. Frankly, Shotzy would likely prefer sitting with her human on the couch than running in the yard.
When we first got Shotzy, she didn’t seem to understand what affection is. She was often frozen standing in one spot in the living room. After a few weeks of hugs, kisses, and cuddling, now she cannot get enough affection.
While Shotzy is about 3.5 years old, she comes across as older given her gentle, sedate manner. She needs a home where she is welcome on the couch and in the family bed at night. She definitely would not be happy in a crate or in a home where the dog is not a key member of the family unit.
As is often seen with puppy mill dogs, she has to learn things that a dog her age that had a normal life would have mastered a long time ago. She is still a bit concerned with traffic and loud trucks and can hesitate when she sees dogs or people coming towards her on the street. She just needs more exposure. She is just figuring out things like balls and toys. She loves chew toys.
She would do well as either the only dog or in a home with another dog that is not high energy. We have found that living with three dogs, she has learned a lot by watching them and does enjoy snuggling up with them.
We think that if there are children in the home, it is best if they be older.
Because Shotzy has a history with bladder stones she requires food that provides for urinary care to guard against stones forming again in the future. She loves her food so the special food is no problem for her.
