Nessa has been adopted!
Sponsored in loving memory Josie and Nick Sargeant
Nessa spent the first two years of her life in a puppy mill. That is all behind her now as she looks forward to the life she deserves.
Despite a rough start, Nessa is a very happy, affectionate, well behaved girl. She has yet to meet a person or dog that she does not want to become best friends with. If you are looking for a dog that you can take to work, this is your girl. Of course, productivity levels would drop, as everyone would stop working to say hi to Nessa.
Nessa is fully house trained. She has not shown any destructive or aggressive behaviour. She is great in the car and is quickly learning how to be a good walker while on a leash. She rarely barks.
As with many puppy mill dogs, Nessa is taking time now to enjoy the puppy adventures she missed. At times, she seems younger than she is. She gets very excited, but in an adorable way. She gets quite jealous if another dog is getting attention. She will push in close to get her share of the love.
We think she would do very well in a busy home with lots of people who can give her attention. She would do equally well as the only dog, or in a home that has a dog.
She is starting to learn what toys and balls are. She can spend quite some time looking for a good hiding place for her favourite stuffed toy.
She will have to learn some of the basic commands that dogs of her age would usually know, such as sit, stay and come. These are all easy fixes, as Nessa wants to please and she is very smart.
She likely would not be happy in a home where she is left alone for too long. She is quite bonded to her people and would miss that contact. She likely would not be happy if crated.
She is a couch dog, so if your idea of a good pet is one that spends its life on the floor, Nessa isn’t right for you. She wants to be up with her people and even more so wants to climb in bed with someone at night. Luckily, she knows how to share the bed.
She has not been exposed to cats, but we think she would be fine. Her exposure to children has been those she has met while on walks, but it has always been a positive experience for all involved. We have no reason to think she would not get along with children of any age.
While right now Nessa has a summer cut, if you watch her video, you will see her with a full coat. She is like a walking teddy bear. Best of all – she is non-shedding. Nessa should not be considered hypoallergenic due to her breed mix.
