Bernie is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met and has been an absolute joy to foster. Very typical to the breed, she adores all people and is happiest when she has her people around. She gets along well with other dogs and cats and is fully housetrained.
Unfortunately Bernie came into our care with a large tumor on her elbow. After doing a biopsy of the tumor, it was determined that the best course of action to guarantee Bernie a healthy life was to amputate her leg. Bernie had surgery one week ago, and has adjusted remarkably well. She will need to continue to work on her mobility and gaining strength in front leg but overall is healing very well.
Bernie would do best in a home vs an apartment, ideally with a fenced yard. If her owners work out of the home in the day, another dog in the home would be ideal and she is used to living with other animals and seems to enjoy the companionship. She is such an easy going girl who adjusted very quickly to the routine in our home and I have no doubt that she will adjust just as quickly to her adoptive home.
