Franklin has been adopted.
Yes. Franklin has only one eye. This was not always the case. He was found abandoned in the middle of the road in Ohio. He was blind in both eyes, deaf, and starving. Franklin was taken to a nearby shelter where he was safe but they lacked the resources to help him. Save Me Rescue was contacted and brought him to Canada for treatment.
It was determined that one eye had pressure building up. This caused a great deal of pain. The eye was removed and so was the pain. Franklin had his last 2 teeth pulled at the same time and a hole in his jawbone closed. He also was neutered.
Franklin was without pain at last and he started to eat and eat! He is turning into a little glutton. He now takes an interest in walking about the garden and house.
Foster Mom: “Frankie has been such a sweet and gentle boy despite his handicaps. His tail wags now when I come home. He will bump his nose into my leg to make sure I’m really there.”
He sleeps behind a baby gate at night. He has found the water bowl and the best dog beds. He will go potty outdoors when taken out, but does wear a diaper in case of accidents. He is a senior after all.
Because he has special needs, a house without stairs would be best (or stairs that can be gated). He would be accepting of another quiet older pet. Due to his small size, young children should be avoided.
Franklin can smell and react to touch. He needs a gentle, loving touch. Could your home meet his needs?
