Shiloh is available for adoption
Sponsored in thanksgiving for Jude, Desmond and MollyJones
This is Shiloh. She is a beautiful little 5 yrs old Maltese who came into care about 2 months ago. In that time she has become more confident and trusting. She is now housetrained, has learned to come up and down the the deck stairs, walks great on the leash, enjoys and eats well. She has a very passive and submissive personality and energy about her.
Shiloh loves her crate and bed and enjoys sleeping with all her stuff toys. Although she has barked, generally she is very quiet. When put in her crate, she settles quickly and is comfortable being on her own. When she sees the leash come out, she will run to her crate and wait for it to be attached. She is timid with strangers but after a few minutes will go to her bed and sleep. She continues to need space when presented with food, when her crate is opened in the morning and when coming in the door. When she is stressed she tends to circle but over time this has greatly reduced.
Coming from a puppy mill she is gradually learning that hands are for gentle tummy rubs and petting. Recently she has learned to play fetch with her toys and ball and loves to run in the back yard.
She has had all her required shots and had her mouth and teeth checked with the vet and all looks good.
Shiloh will do best in a quiet home perhaps with another quiet dog, preferable no little children. She will require a crate as that is her safe space. She will also need extra time to adjust to a new family, with someone who understands that patience and compassion will be the door to her heart.
