Serena

Serena is adopted

Sponsored by Melanie M.: Merry Christmas Aunt Cathy!! To honour your love of the little rescue pups!!

Meet Serena!
Although she has not had the greatest start to life, Serena has come so far and flourished in foster care!
At first she was very shy and unsure of her surroundings but after some time and watching her foster brothers and sisters she realized she was safe and her sweet personality started to come out. Serena loves to feels safe so being cuddled up with her human is her favourite place to be. She loves treats, belly rubs and has also discovered toys are super cool! She gets around just fine in her foster home but cannot go up and down the stairs. Serena would do best in a quiet home where her human(s) are home more often than not. A home with another dog would also be beneficial for her so that she has a brother or sister than can lead her and show her that being a family pet is A-OK! She is also pee pad trained.
Serena has severe deformities of both her front legs and our vets feel it is most likely that this is a congenital issue to which she has adapted well. We have consulted with an orthopaedic surgeon who has unfortunately informed us that there is not a viable surgical repair for Serena.  As well as the issues with her front legs, Serena has luxating patellas in her rear legs -this is very common in the tiny dogs.  The surgeon feels it is best not to intervene with this issue either.  The very sad truth is that the vets believe that Serena’s life expectancy will be cut short as she will eventually have severe arthritis and the pain will get to the point that it will not be controllable.
We hope that there is a very special person out there who realizes that this girl deserves a family to call her own and will adopt Serena knowing that their time together will not be one of great quantity but can certainly be of great quality. Serena had a very rough start to life in every way and after just a short time in foster care she has come along by leaps and bounds.  We believe that Serena’s special someone is out there and hope they find each other soon.
