Samson

Samson has been adopted!

Sponsored for Catherine’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Catherine from your fellow dog lovers!

Samson (we call him Sammy) spent the first two and a half years of his life as a breeding male in a puppy mill. He is now free from that ordeal and ready to start the life he deserves.

Despite a tough start to his life, Sammy is a remarkably happy, gentle and well adjusted little boy. He has a very innocent manner to him. He is well behaved in the house and is thrilled to meet new dogs and people when out for a walk.

He is very good on a leash and always up for a car ride. He is starting to learn basic commands. We have seen no destructive or aggressive behaviour. He is learning to enjoy being touched or cuddled. He quickly found his prized spot in the family bed at night. He hasn’t quite figured out what toys are, but it’s just a matter of time.

Sammy spent the first part of his life living with other dogs so that is what he knows. He gets comfort from them. His foster home has two dogs and he loves the company. So, he needs a home that has a dog that likes to have a good play.

Sammy has been around small children and did fine with them. So far, he hasn’t quite figured out playing with them and is a bit guarded with small children.

He is neutered, up to date on shots, and has a microchip.

He would do best in a home where someone is home most of the day as he has already spent so much of his life alone. He loves the company of his people.

When thinking about whether to adopt a puppy mill dog, think of it as similar to adopting a puppy. Both have much to learn about life. Luckily, Sammy is a very clever boy and has been learning quickly.
