Dogs

Roscoe

Roscoe has been adopted!

Sponsored by Tom  and Gail with much love and birthday wishes to their dear  friend Deb. Happy Birthday Deb!

Roscoe is a quirky and very entertaining young chihuahua guy. He’s also quite the little shadow.

He has a very goofy personality and loves to play with higher energy dogs. Size doesn’t seem to matter to him, so long as they’ll run and play tag with him. His future family doesn’t need to have another dog, but it would keep him entertained in the backyard.

Roscoe is crated during the work day and keeps his space clean. He’s quiet, but will bark when he hears noise, so an apartment or condo would not be ideal. His future home would be a house with a fenced yard for him to run .. and play fetch.. he LOVES fetch!

Roscoe loves little toys he can carry around and play with. He also enjoys his chew bones. He will play quietly by himself, or will be delighted if his person would play too. He thinks it’s funny to parade around with toys trying to catch your attention. He loves cuddling up beside his person on the sofa for a little evening tv and appreciates a good belly rub.

He is good on a leash and enjoys being active, so he would make a great hiking and exploring companion for an active person.

Roscoe does have dry eye in his right eye. There appears to have been an ucler at one point prior to coming into care. This has healed nicely. We have been monitoring it and it does appear he has issues with tear production in that eye. We are assuming this may be a life long issue, so he will require drops to help him produce tears. He gets them two – three times a day. Typically just before each meal and one before bed. He’s good about getting them done once you get a routine going. A future home would need to be willing to do drops to keep his eye healthy. Cost is about $40 a month

He’s requires a slow into to new people, but once he gets to know them and see they’re trustworthy, he’s great. We’re not sure of his past, but given his often submissive reactions to situation, we assume he hasn’t had the best interactions with people.. hence his initial distrust. His future family would be one that can ask their company to ignore him initially while he sniffs around.

Roscoe tends to be a one person dog, he gives all his attention to the foster mom and very little to the dad. He’s fine with him, but as with most chihuahuas, then tend to focus on one owner more than anyone else. So a single person or a couple understanding of this is key.

Have questions? Please feel free to contact his foster mom Colleen at pugzus@gmail.com or fill out an application.
