Hello everyone. I’m Ralphie! I’m an incredibly handsome 9 month old mini poodle with spring in my step and a wag in my tail.
I had a bit of a delayed start to life. You see, I was only recently released from a mill to an Ohio shelter, when I was taken into rescue care. Turns out there is a whole wonderful world for me to learn about. I do know what I like so far.. meeting new people, belly rubs, doggy friends, toys, chew bones and more toys!!!
I also like leash walking and have been doing very well with it. My foster mom is trying to teach me Sit, and Lay Down. To be honest, when other things are going on around me and I’d rather go play, but she says I need to learn these things.
Another life lesson foster mom says is important for me to learn is housetraining. She regularly puts me out in the yard, cheers when I do my business and strangely makes me wear a belly band in the house (“just in case” of accidents she says). She crates me in her office when she’s busy working, thought we take breaks and run around the yard for play time, and I’m crated by her bed over night. She says it keeps me safe and I don’t mind. I just chill there and nap. I don’t however enjoy it when she leaves the room or goes out while I’m crated, but I will settle down and nap. Though, I prefer to always have human company nearby. I’d really like my forever family to have someone home most of the time, and I’d love them to be active and keep me busy.
As does any puppy at 9 months, I like to jump around, love to taste the world around me. Sometimes I nibble fingers, and foster mom says it’s a good thing I’m gentle about it! She says I’m not supposed to though, she uses the word No. In fact, she seems to like that word, especially when I’m having naughty fun! But, hey I’m a puppy, right?
I think I would love some kids to play with, preferably ones that are a bit older and ones that can understand how playful I can be as a puppy. I know I’d love to have another active dog to play with, but I don’t want a doggy sibling that won’t enjoy my exuberance for life. My little foster sister says I’m a bit much to take sometimes, she’s a party pooper. However, my bigger foster sister thinks I’m a ton of fun to play with. I’d prefer a house, rather than an apartment or condo, I like to bark when my people leave me all alone. Plus, I’d love a yard to run around. Easy access to a yard will also make my housetraining much simpler.
While I do need some training, I’m happy, playful and it’s been said that I’m just the sweetest pup. Foster mom says I’ll make some family very happy.
