Pickle has been adopted!
Sponsored in honour of my wonderful rescue Theo.
Simply the sweetest tiny girl.
Pickle is all of 7 lbs but twice her weight in sweetness. She has the most beautiful amber coloured eyes that match her coat. She’s a timid girl who is a little unsure of new situations, but knows she wants to be cuddled up next to you.
We have been working hard on Pickle’s house training and it’s coming along great. It’s no easy task to teach a tiny dog about outside business when it’s snowing, windy and cold, but we have been putting our best foot forward and making great progress. Pickle is crate trained at night and doesn’t make a peep. During the day she hangs out with her foster mom in the office, and with regular trips outside, she does great. An adopter will need to continue this with her.
Pickle is a quiet girl who isn’t big on toys but knows a good blanket when she sees one. She likes to find a quiet spot to nap as you go about your day, especially a sunny spot. She does have a silly side that you can encourage out of her from time to time and she’ll run around and get excited. She will bark when someone comes into the home, but she stops when told.
It was noticed during a physical exam by our vet, that Pickle’s gait was somewhat off. X-rays were done which showed 2 areas of her spine with possible disc changes, most likely from an old injury. It doesn’t seem to bother her at all, but we’re glad it was detected so that adopters are aware of this when it comes to exercise and activities. Pickle also has a grade 3 heart murmur, which is mild but should be noted, with no signs of congestive heart failure. This is good news, but good for adopters to maintain her weight and have this monitored during yearly exams.
We are looking for a home with no small children or larger high energy dogs. (She would be fine with visiting children.) She would do well with another older or low energy small dog. She just prefers a calm environment, due to her small size and timid/shy personality.
Pickle is simply looking for someone with lots of love, and who can ensure she will be put outside throughout the day to continue her house training. Someone who can use a reading or tv partner, who can encourage her to come out of her shell and who enjoys being the focal point of her love. (She would also prefer to go south for her winters, she’s not a fan of snow, but we’ve told her that aiming a little high.)
