Nova

Nova has been adopted!

Sponsored in honour of Laura’s Birthday

Hi, my name is Nova and I am a gentle soul with the right amount of playfulness. My foster siblings call me Nova Scotia or Novi for fun.

When I first arrived into my foster home I was really tired, very timid, shy, terrified of vehicles or crates, did not like men with beards, and I wouldn’t bark. Only after a few weeks with the help of my foster mom, I found my voice and I was able to overcome these obstacles and realized that everything was going to be fine. I needed a leader to guide me in the right direction and reward my good behaviors. Now I love the car and jump in willingly because I love going to new places and meeting new people and animals! For the first few days I slept and caught up on some much needed rest. I may sleep at my new home too. Don’t worry this is because of the new change and I am just adapting. When I have to go to the bathroom, I stand at the door and may whimper. If you do not come quickly, I may just find a place because I don’t like to hold it.

What I love the most is people and dogs. I can play with dogs of all sizes preferably the ones that are friendly like me. I like to play tug a war and I am learning to play fetch (which I haven’t nailed down the retrieving part yet). I love being outside and can either sit in the sun or play on my own. I have some energy but not too much, so I need at least two walks a day or a very long one. I like to take my time and enjoy all the scents and take in the environment. At first I get a little too excited and can pull, but after a few minutes I am an easy breeze. Some days when I have lots of energy I look to zumie which my foster mom gets a chuckle.

When I get too dirty, my foster mom wipes me down because I don’t like the bath too much, I’ve only had one, but I will happily sit on the bathmat while you take yours. I am a bit of a pampered princess even though baths can be a bit scary. I enjoy being brushed and getting my nails done, I can just fall asleep while you groom me.

I currently live with a foster family of 5, including a small child and another dog. I am not jealous or seek attention when my foster mom is not paying attention to me, I just wait my turn.

Not only am I easy on the eyes but I am very smart too! I can sit, stay, come, lie down, and leave it but you have to give me the right treats (I am a bit fussy). If you have the time, I am eager to learn new tricks and please you.

At the end of my day, I enjoy relaxing in the same room as everyone hopefully to get my belly rubbed or I may sleep on my own in front of the bay window or a soft spot on the floor. Don’t worry, I do not chew the furniture, I am very trusting that way. Just give me a bone or a toy and I will be entertained with that!

I am pack driven so the ideal family for me is someone who would be with me during the day, someone to teach me more things, who has an outdoor active lifestyle, has a doggie companion, a fenced yard and the time to enjoy each other’s company.

My foster family is sad that I must go, but I know I will find my new home that is perfect for me!

Oh, my foster mom has my medical record which she will give to you when I am adopted. I am fully vaccinated including boosters, de-wormed, recently spayed, and microchipped. I have one more follow up appointment on April 11, 2022 and after that I will be ready to go to my new home!
