Norma has been adopted!

Norma is a very sweet, loving beagle who travelled from Kentucky to find her forever family. This little girl is sure to steal your heart, she is a dainty girl who loves everyone she meets and wants nothing more than to be loved and cuddled and loved and cuddled some more.
When Norma arrived she was definitely needing some extra feeding to build her weight up and she is gaining weight nicely. From the moment she arrived she showed us that she is very comfortable in the home; stairs were no problem, knows to go outside to get her business done, understands “No”, and is comfortable in her crate; sleeping, eating, and crated when we go out. We have left her in her crate to go out for a few hours at a time but do leave her with a nylabone as she does like to chew; easily redirected if choosing to chew something she shouldn’t. She loves her stuffed bears so having toys and chews are great things to keep her busy. She does bark, sometimes, when we are leaving initially, but she seems to settle quickly. She has not been a big barker so far, but does have a loud bark for a little dog. Being a beagle, she will surf the counter and for her small size, she can stand pretty tall, so making sure she cannot grab things off the counter will be important. She loves to play with her foster dog brother and they sleep pretty close together on the sofa too. It would be great if she had another dog playmate in her home as she took a lot of cues from her foster brother. She would do great as an only dog too but loves the company of other dogs. Norma has met our grandkids and seems to like them a lot. She greets everyone by jumping up for attention or to grab at food in our hands so we think children who are dog savvy, 5 yrs and up would be great. Norma has been very good for grooming, bathing, cleaning her ears and clipping her nails. She really is a sweetheart.
We are working on down to reduce the jumping up to greet, grab food from our hands and the counter surfing; she can jump very high, so this has been our focus. Sit is a work in progress as is laying down. Norma does walk on a leash, but lacks confidence and seems to be more comfortable walking beside her foster brother. Over time, we expect she will gain more confidence and enjoy her walks. Norma is a more submissive, timid girl, and loves other dogs, but does need time to get comfortable, figuring out how to interact. She plays well with her boisterous, pushy foster brother but it did take her a couple of days to figure him out. She may not be good with cats as the neighbourhood cat showed up on our back deck, she was very vocal and wanted to get outside to give chase which we did not encourage; she did calm once it was out of sight.
Norma is an absolute sweetheart and will make a great addition to your family. She is a really nice mix of cuddle bug, playfulness and chilling while watching your favourite programs on tv.
