Mocha

Mocha has been adopted!

Sponsored in memory of Aria. Aria shared her love with everyone she met, making all who were blessed to know her feel so loved. To honour our “little white rain cloud,” we are offering the gift of a new life to Mocha. May she be loved every day of her new life, as Aria was in hers. We love you and miss you, Ryry, and will forever remember your army crawls, your love of belly rubs, and your poodly curls.

Not long after Mocha arrived and settled in, her playful and loving side came out in a flurry of licks, kisses and a constant wagging of her tail. She’s a sweet reminder of the value of pet companionship. She is eager and ready to learn and be an integral part of a loving family.

Mocha is house and crate trained. At night or when we are in the kitchen she loves to hang out in her crate. At bedtime, she doesn’t make a peep all night. She was a little unsettled taking her home in her crate when she first arrived but as she has already shown, she’s a quick adapter!

Mocha enjoys meeting and being around small to medium sized dogs. She can come across as being a bit standoffish with larger dogs.
Apparently she got along well with the shelter cat! As for squirrels and birds, her prey drive is about medium strength. It appears she would rather play with them than devour them.

Not a big fan of water, Mocha endured a bath when she first arrived. She continues to feel more comfortable around water. On our walks, she is crossing bridges over water, walking alongside the river, etc. Getting her nails done the other day was a breeze for the technician as I was told she was a perfect lady.

Mocha has lots of love to give the right person/family. She enjoys being in close proximity to her humans whether hanging out in her crate or on the couch with her favourite blanket and toys. Ideally, Mocha would live in a home with a fenced yard so she can zoom around the yard. Having a dog already in the home would be beneficial as she would learn the ropes of day to day living and build some confidence. If it is a larger dog, then a proper introduction would be helpful.

Stairs? No problem up or down. Her leash walking skills continue to improve. She wears a harness as she is eager to explore and check out her surroundings. Mocha has no health issues and is microchipped, spayed and vaccinated.

Mocha is a bit nervous around loud noises such as traffic and construction and can be jumpy with sudden movements around her.

On a walk, I find keeping her close and offering verbal reassurance helps her to stay calm.

Food is one of her favourite things and healthy treats used for reinforcing positive behaviour and extra kibble at mealtime are the norm currently. Mocha is a bit of a lightweight and needs to fill out. She makes up for her smaller stature with a large, playful, loving presence that is a delight to be around.
