Marlo

Marlo has been adopted!

Sponsored on behalf of my Border Collie “fur kids”; Snoopy & Noel!

Meet Marlo, a sweet 1 year old border collie who joined our rescue after being found locally as a stray.

When Marlo first came into care, she was very nervous of new people and new situations/environments. She displayed a very sensitive temperament typical of the border collie breed. Her fosters spent the first few weeks with Marlo allowing her to decompress and adjust to her new surroundings. Once she began to build trust, her fosters started training to increase her confidence. Over the past couple of months Marlo has come out of her shell. She has become a happy and affectionate dog who loves the company of her people. Although she can still be uneasy with new people, she continues to improve in this area and recently had a trip to the vet where she was wonderful with both the clinic staff and for her exam.

Typical to the breed Marlo is very smart and easy to train. She loves going to long walks and hikes and has the potential to do very well-off leash with some additional training. She is crate trained and house trained and has a calm demeanor in the home when her physical and mental needs are met.

We would not recommend Marlo to a home with kids/cats/small dogs due to her nervous temperament and herding instincts. She would, however, be a wonderful addition to an active adult only home.

Marlo is currently in rehab while we continue to work on her socialization. During this period, we would be willing to consider applications from breed experienced homes who are interested in continuing her training.
