Lucky has been adopted!

Lucky is 9 year old Shih Tzu who was picked up on a country road in rural Ohio.
It was obvious that Lucky had endured a terrible life as he was found completely filthy and matted, full of ticks and mites and was unrecognizable. Lucky was transferred to the rural pound at the beginning of May 2018 and from there was pulled to Open Arms Rescue in Celina Ohio. The team quickly went to work to have Lucky fully groomed and vetted and unveiled a beautiful Shih Tzu with big brown eyes and a gentle soul.
Lucky was very trusting from the beginning as he new he was going to be ok. Over the next several weeks he spent time in a temporary foster in Ohio receiving love and medical treatment for his eye/ear infections and pain. Lucky walked slowly, learning to walk without all the matting was a challenge but he was free!!!
Lucky soon was requested by a foster family in London Ontario to take him into their family and find a forever home for him. Lucky made the long trip from Ohio to London and at last met his new foster family and slept his first night soundly on a big comfy bed.
Lucky has been going on short walks everyday to build muscle and tone in his legs as we assume he once lived in a cage, likely a puppy mill. He is doing one stair on his own now and even has wagged his tail when the foster children come home!! He continues to receive ointment for his dry eye and his ear infections are clearing up nicely. He loves his two Shih Tzu siblings and gets along well with them as well as all adults and older children. He has not had one accident and loves to sit in the grass and smell the fresh air.
Lucky would do best in a quiet home, low activity and have lots of snuggle time. Lucky is excellent in the car and falls asleep in minutes. He would do well in house/apartment or condo and preferably no stairs. As a result of his past he does have hearing loss and minimal vision in his right eye but this does not stop him from getting around!!
Lucky was lovingly fostered by Nicole
