Lola

Lola has been adopted!

Sponsored by Robin in memory of Cathy and Rob’s dog “Pug” that passed away recently.

This is Lola! She came into care with her sister Lucy from way up North in Attawapiskat. Both her and her sister are on the smaller side – we know that her mom is some sort of shepherd mix, but dad is unknown. They are definitely a Northern Mix!

She is super sweet, loves to cuddle (when she’d done playing), and has the prettiest eyes! Lola is a little bit more laid back than her sister but still has her rambunctious puppy moments. She is quite content chewing on a crinkle toy (or her favourite cardboard box) when they are given solo play time.

Both pups are becoming more active, playful, and adventurous! Especially when they are outside – they are feeling more comfortable wandering the backyard and are intrigued by the various sounds.

Lola sure loves her food! She gobbles it down fast, so some sort of slow feeder bowl will help slow her down. She will also need practice taking treats in a gentle way – sometimes it’s hard when they are so delicious!

Lola will need a fully fenced yard, or someone committed to taking her places where she can let some of her energy out. I think she would love an active family to keep her busy and teach her the ropes!

Potty training is a work in progress, but it’s going pretty good considering she is so young! She knows that when she goes outside that she needs to go to the bathroom. We have been keeping both pups on a schedule, and this has helped tremendously to prevent accidents inside. They still happen though, so patience and consistency will be key.

She has so much fun playing with her sister all day, so having another pup in the home would be great, but it’s not necessary. Lola absolutely loves people and will follow her foster parents around when she’s not in her x-pen. She’s getting used to her name and is starting to respond to it when called. She’s one smart cookie!

Currently both pups sleep in their x-pen and crate overnight. They have both been good overnight – when the lights go out, they know it’s time to settle in for the evening.

Lola’s birthday was February 10th, so she will be 8 weeks old on April 6th and will be getting her first set of vaccines on April 10th. She will be free to go to her forever home the weekend of April 20th!
