Chase has been adopted!
Sponsored by Mandy and family in honour of Betty White.
One of the volunteers who helped drive Chase to his foster, fell in love with this sweet guy during the drive so he has an application in progress.
Chase is a lovely mixed northern dog. Typically the “nordics” are a mix of husky, lab, shepherd, border collie. Often working breeds and these dogs love to be involved with their families. They enjoy mental stimulation that comes with being given tasks, conversation, and something to do.. whether that is walking, exercise, or simply following their people around observing what they’re doing.
Chase has up to this point lived mainly outside. Though I suspect he has been indoors, he is used to having the freedom to roam. Because of this, Chase sometimes isn’t sure what to do inside and will pace. This is common for these dogs for the first little while, until they become used to their owners routines. It just requires a bit of patience as they learn to adjust. Redirecting them to come sit down, letting them in and out often, things like that will help him to learn.
He’s a nice size pup, about 30 lbs (though he could stand to gain another 5), and he’s so far been easy to control on leash and listens well. Loves to be close by when you’re outside with him. He has learned to sit for treats, so I think he will be easily trainable and this will also give him the tasks he will crave (following direction/command).
