Cello

Cello has been adopted!

Sponsored in memory of Kelly who came into my our lives 8 years ago and brought us so much joy. We love and miss you Kelly.

Meet Cello!

Cello is considered a lab mix. She really is a mystery. I think we can see at least a dozen breeds when looking at her characteristics and physical attributes. She is a medium size dog with a large personality. She is so loving and eager-to-please . She is a dream to train and would make a great partner if you are looking for a dog to teach agility training. Many times we have seen her jump right over the top of things instead of going around them. She is a very entertaining dog to watch. This sweet girl has not had the human love that she wants or deserves and is looking for a forever family that can commit to her for the rest of a long, loving life. Check out a video of her here: https://youtu.be/1gSQg9o99ak

Cello is estimated to between 1 and 2 years old so she still has the puppy playfulness and energy. She needs a family that is committed to continuing the training that has been started in her foster home. She likes to learn new skills and is a very smart dog. She does however have trouble getting her bum to stop wiggling long enough for her to listen to follow thru with the commands. Still, she is learning and trying very hard to be good. She still gets silly sometimes and will grab a shoe to run around with. We have been providing her with lots of toys and chewy sticks to help redirect that. Positive reinforcement is the key. She is very responsive to a stern but steady “no”, and is a quick learner.

Cello is very social and has loved all the other dogs and people she has met so far. She loves getting out for walks but still requires work on the leash. When off leash in our backyard or at the dog park, she can run like the wind and seems to have endless energy. Her recall is pretty good now and I am very proud at how well she behaves when we are at the dog park. She has made many friends, both human and canine. She has met small children and seems to like them but her wiggly bum can sometimes scare a very small child. I would recommend children 12 and up who will really appreciate Cello’s social nature and skills. She has become the best friend of the resident dog and they are adorable together. They share everything, even sleeping in the same crate together at night. Cello would definitely like another dog in her forever home so she can continue to be social and play and burn off some of her energy with them. She is, however, not the best with cats. She has not hurt the resident cats but she has startled them. If they are running through the house and she sees them, she will chase them to play. If she catches them, she is very gentle. She has never hurt any of the resident cats. I think she probably has a pretty high prey drive so the chasing part scares our cats.

Cello will require a fully fenced and secure yard. As mentioned, she can run like the wind and she can jump straight up in the air about 4 feet high. She does well in our 6-foot-high yard. She does bark at people going past the fence, even if she can’t see them. She does not bark when she is in the house, even when the doorbell rings or people enter. She does however snore like a chainsaw and sometimes lets out some pretty loud toots in her sleep!

Cello is housetrained as well as crate trained. She really likes her crate. She gets tired at about 9:30 each night and wants to cuddle on the couch. At about 10:00 pm, I open her crate and give her a small treat and she goes right in and settles for the night. She is very quiet and will sleep for at least 8hrs. While having the typical energy of a young dog, with adequate exercise, Cello is very good at settling down in the house. In fact, she is a HUGE cuddler and considers herself a literal lap dog. Truly, she just wants love.

Cello has been a wonderful foster dog for our family and we look forward to finding her forever home for her. She is full of character and love and everything you could want in a family pet. With consistent training, Cello will grow to be your very best friend.
