Calling all shepherd enthusiasts! Aero is a 4-year-old female shepherd, who personifies all the wonderful shepherd qualities. She is bright, athletic, people focused and full of personality.
We aren’t sure what Aero’s life experience was prior to coming into our care but during her time with Save Me she has proven herself to be a well-balanced dog who is a dream to work with. She is fully crate and house trained and knows her basic commands. She gets along well with other dogs although our recommendation would be a home with no dogs or only male dogs as she can be quite dominant with other females…she is a sassy shepherd after all! We would not recommend a home with cats or other small animals due to her drive.
While in foster care Aero has spent time around children and would do well in a home with older respectful kids. Although we would never recommend an adopter letting their new dog run off leash, once trust has been established Aero does incredibly well-off leash and has near perfect recall making her a wonderful hiking partner. She is very focused on her handler and as a result doesn’t like to venture too far from her people.
Aero is all shepherd when it comes to her smarts and will need a home that will not only exercise her physically but also mentally. She picks up training incredibly quickly and would love a home with an interest in continuing her training.
During her first visit to the vet Aero was a bit nervous when being restrained for her exam. The staff took their time and after a few minutes and on following visits she has met them all with endless kisses. But it may be the case that in the future she needs a few extra seconds to adjust in new (scary to her) situations. When meeting new people in foster care, an environment where she is very comfortable, she has always been well.
Aero’s zest for life is contagious and she will no doubt have her future adopters laughing daily with her antics. If you are looking for a dog to join you on all you on all your adventures and be your sidekick in life then Aero is your girl!
