Rex is an extremely well behaved, lovable 1 year old Red Heeler looking for his furever home.
Though you would be hard pressed to find a sweeter, gentler dog (he is good with children, cats, and other dogs), Rex is a very nervous boy who needs to acclimate to new settings on his own terms. A home with children may be a little too overwhelming, and it would be imperative that any pre-existing dogs meet Rex to establish compatibility.
In the house, Rex has proven himself to be a dog owner’s dream. He settles quickly, is non-destructive, and does not make any noise beyond the occasional whine when he is first left alone. There have been no incidents of breaking into human food stores (though you may find yourself being respectfully watched while preparing your dinner).
Rex IS a dog who likes to cuddle on the bed and couch, so a family willing to share their furniture would be best. It should also be stated that due to his past, Rex is uncomfortable in crates. Luckily, his amazing behaviour has deemed them completely unnecessary – even when left alone for hours at a time!
This angel is just as fun on outings as he is during cuddle time. An excellent listener, Rex does very well both on and off leash, and always comes when called. Now that he has learned what it means to play, he absolutely LOVES the dog park and indulges in games of tag with whomever is willing. However, this handsome man is also happy with a simple sidewalk stroll on days where the dog park just isn’t in the schedule (so long as time is allotted for plentiful sniffing).
Rex’s future owners will need to continue with his positive canine and human socialization. Ultimately, Rex is seeking a stable, quiet life with a family who can give him the patience and gentle love he deserves.
Please note that while we continue to get to know each of our dogs, their biographies will be updated with additional information, so make sure to check back once in a while!
