Save Me remembers Rocket!
Yesterday (June 19th, 2017) we had to lay Rocket to rest. I thought yesterday was one of the hardest days on my heart, but I was wrong. Waking up today without him is.
He came into our home and hearts October 1 2016. We knew right from the beginning he was to finish out his journey with Jeremy, myself, Tyson, and his foster siblings. We always knew this time would come, but no amount of logical preparation can truly warn the heart of the ache it is due to feel.
He was such a beautiful boy. No mean bone in his body and showed his love to us in his own unique Rocket way. He loved peanut butter and chicken, which he enjoyed on the grass yesterday afternoon.
I miss everything about him. I miss his excitement when he knew he was going outside, to his infrequent but meaningful tail wags. His presence has stamped his memory at every nook and cranny of our home. What I would give to pet him one more time, give him one more kiss, and tell him how much we love him and that he is family…just once more, but I know it would never, ever be enough.
Thank you, truly, to everyone who had a part in his journey.
He was ready to go home, to cross the rainbow bridge.
