Bruno

Save Me Remembers

This handsomest, and best of boys, left us on November 19th. Bruno came into rescue over 2 years ago and joined our palliative/forever foster program not long after. He was an anomaly from the start – a senior Northern. He had survived a harsh life and very difficult conditions. Although he was well loved, the lack of resources and veterinary care made it impossible for him to receive the medical attention he needed.

These last years, Bruno enjoyed a life filled with all the love and care he so deserved. The veterinary care the rescue was able to provide gave him a new lease on life. Once he started Librella injections his mobility improved dramatically and he spent his days running around the farm, basking in the sun. In the cold weather he had a soft place in front of the fire.

Earlier this year, Bruno survived being hit by a car, which recklessly struck him, while he was relaxing on his property. We were all amazed at how well he recovered and he enjoyed the summer with the people he loved. A few months ago Bruno started showing symptoms of MMA and we did start treatment for that even though the tests were inconclusive. These last few months, Librella was no longer enough to help his mobility and his steady decline culminated in it being time to let him go. What a beautiful last few years he had with Madison and Kyle. They loved him fiercely and we are so grateful to them for everything they did to make these last years the best of Bruno’s life. Bruno also received much love from Courtney who also is feeling this hard loss.

Being able to help a dog like Bruno is extremely gratifying and helping him have a peaceful passing, in loving arms, is the final gift.

Kyle and Madison, we grieve with you and wrap you in a collective hug.

We would like to thank the veterinarians and staff at North Heritage Animal Hospital for taking wonderful care of Bruno these last years. They always let us know that he was a favourite and made sure he knew it too!
