Twix is a gentle, quiet girl who arrived from a puppy mill background and is learning how to be a dog for the very first time. At 5.5 years old, she’s not a puppy anymore, but she has the curious, tender heart of one. Everyone who meets her is struck by how calm and soft she is. She doesn’t bark, jump, or rush at people. She’s shy at first, but with patience she shows her sweet and endearing personality.

Twix is a low-shedding girl with low to moderate energy. She’s house trained (no accidents in the foster home), super quiet in the house, and comfortable being left alone for several hours with no signs of separation anxiety. She’s still learning to walk on leash and may pull quite a bit, so she’ll do best with a patient and consistent handler. She doesn’t know basic commands yet, but she is progressing quickly with clicker training and is treat-motivated (beef liver and bully sticks).

Twix loves being outdoors and “the grass is her best friend.” Although getting to the outdoors is a mission, she lights up when she’s on a lawn, happily exploring and soaking up the fresh air. Because of this, a home with a yard would be ideal for her. It would give her a safe and comforting space to enjoy her favourite thing every day. That said, a yard isn’t a requirement as long as she gets regular outdoor time.

She enjoys chewing on bully sticks or dental chews. She has a cute quirk of sometimes hiding food in her crate or bed to save for later, and she prefers eating from flatter bowls or ones with lower sides.

She currently lives with a cat and pays them no attention. She can be a bit aloof to other dogs but do not mind their presence. She’s shy in general but has shown no aggression toward people, and she settles well when left alone. She’s sensitive to loud noises and sudden movements, so a calm, predictable environment suits her best.

Twix’s perfect home would have humans who understand the needs of a former breeding dog: quiet, patient, and willing to move at her pace. Her ideal family will use positive reinforcement, give her time to build confidence, and celebrate the small milestones (not too loudly) as she discovers what it means to be a loved pet.

Twix is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. She has no current health issues and is a very good girl at the vet and the groomers.
