Tilly is a small 4 year old female rat terrier mix, who arrived at Save Me via Tennessee. She is spayed and is in good health. Tilly is very curious about everything in her environment, is affectionate and loves a cuddle on a lap. She appears to be house broken and responds well to regularly timed exercise and enjoys a good run in her private dog park with her foster sister. She is a good eater Tilly is a delicate build with long legs, short hair and lovely tan markings. Everything about her is gentle.
She seems quite athletic as she can jump high with ease and has good balance. Think she would make an excellent agility dog. She is not keen on wearing her collar in the house. She is good with other dogs. In the house, she comes when she is called and is a great stair climber. Her prey drive is strong, her hearing is excellent and she notices every squirrel, chipmunk and rabbit on trail walks.
At night, Tilly sleeps in her open crate and stays there all night unless her excellent hearing calls her to go see what is outside.
Tilly still needs work on her leash to not pull, although when no squirrels in sight she is very good. She is still quite cautious around new folks but is starting to warm up more quickly. She is never aggressive just aloof and does not see the need for more people in her life.
Her ideal home needs a fenced yard so she can use up her energy for running and playing (just starting to play with toys outside). After she has good runs she is much better on the leash. The perfect home will take time to continue to introduce her to people and dogs in a safe way. She does jump up to those she loves but now knows the word “no” however her jumping up is very soft and delicate….she just loves to be close to you.
