Tess

Mini Golden Doodle – Female – 38 lbs – 5 yrs (approx)

Sponsored by Sue McCarthy – In memory of my dog loving friend, Jenny.

Tessa is a sweet, beautiful, teddy bear with the softest fur. This former mill mama is a shy girl and can be a little nervous when directly approached, but she is beginning to learn that people can be kind and loving. She is slowly getting used to being petted and touched and will need a gentle patient adopter who will let her go at her own pace when it comes to contact.

She is quiet indoors and the only bark that has been heard so far, was when a family member’s dog came into the house. Out in the yard, she doesn’t mind sharing the space, but seem to prefer having the home all to herself. For that reason, we think she would prefer to be an only dog in her forever home.

While Tess is shy, she will climb up next to you on the couch, and let you know that she would appreciate some petting and attention. So far, she has no interest in toys, she would rather just follow her foster mom and observe what is going on around her for now.

We think her time outside has been very limited (if any) and the yard noises are all new to her. She has shown zero interest in the neighborhood squirrels and other critters. She doesn’t love the outside, but has done fabulous with her house training and even does short walks on leash. Preferring to walk just behind her foster mama, allowing her to lead the way. With every walk, Tess is learning that the outside world is not so scary.

Tess would love a compassionate adopter who will encourage her to be brave and also understanding of the time she needs to adjust to her new world and allow her personality to come out. She will make someone a lovely companion.
