Sponsored by Mary Lou Kightley – May this lovely dog find the safe and loving home they so deserve.

Hello, my name is Sweetie and I am looking forward to meeting you and getting my own family. I am a bichon frize and about 17 pounds. I am estimated to be about 6 years old. I have a fair amount of energy but I can also settle. I am spayed and had a dental when I lost 10 teeth. My mouth feels so much better. I am up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped. I have some bare spots on my back where the hair is missing. The vets don’t know the cause and hope it will grow in. I also had an ear infection but I’m not shaking my head as much now.

Foster mom says she named Sweetie because it matches my very sweet, playful nature. She says she is tempted to call me wiggle bum. Sometimes I snuggle with my human. Foster mom thinks I will snuggle more once I get to know you. While I haven’t met any children, foster mom thinks I would be fine with respectful children. I like to chew on a bone and have played with a toy.

Foster mom says I am house trained on a schedule. If foster mom leaves me in a small room and then takes me outside on a leash, I go outside. I haven’t had an accident in the house for a while if I have run of the house. But foster mom hasn’t figured out my signal to go outside so I hope you can teach me something. I don’t like a car ride but foster mom thinks I will learn to like a car ride when it leads to good things. I am figuring out this thing called a leash and going for a walk. I have conquered stairs.

Foster mom has two small dogs and several cats. I am comfortable with the dogs and have attempted to play a bit but foster mom says her dogs don’t play a lot so it isn’t surprising that we don’t play much. Foster mom also has another foster that wants to play but is a bit rough. If I tell her no, she doesn’t listen very well so I try to stay away from her. If foster mom claps her hands, I want to play with her. When they bark at people going by, I have to see what they are talking about and I have joined them in the barking. One of foster mom’s cats head butted me. I didn’t know what she wanted and just ignored her. I met foster mom’s friend’s large dogs and some larger dogs when I was at the groomer’s and was okay with them.

I stay in a separate room while foster mom is out and sometimes foster mom leaves me loose in the house with her dogs. I sometimes bark when foster mom comes home and I will bark to get back in the house so apartment living likely isn’t the best place for me. At night, I will sleep on the floor beside your bed but I would rather be on the big bed with you. Foster mom let me on the bed once and I wanted to sleep by her head so she evicted me from the bed. I like to play outside so if you have a fenced yard, that would be great.

The ideal home for me would have another dog and even a cat. If you have a fenced yard that would be a bonus. If you want a lap dog, I will sometimes join you. If you have respectful children, I would be okay with that.

I hope to meet you soon.
