Sunshine, aka Sunny, is a sweet little lady who spent the first part of her life in a puppy mill. She even has the ear tattoo to prove it! Her breeding days are over and she is learning what it means to live in a home and be cared for. When she arrived, she was so scared of everything and everyone. It took a her some time to settle and realize that she is safe. She learned to go up stairs within a few days but only recently has she conquered going downstairs. She is not food motivated but loves to be told she’s a “good girl”. That really helped her stair training.
Because she lived with other dogs, she would do well in a home with another dog. She currently lives with 2 super seniors who aren’t interested in playing but Sunny looks to them for cues. She also likes to curl up next to one of her dog siblings. She also lives with a cat and they ignore each other.
Sunny is working on her housetraining – she knows to do her bathroom business outside and does very well with frequent trips to the backyard. She loves being outside but has not had much opportunity to walk on a leash yet.
She is low energy but once she fully settles she might be more energetic – she does do zoomies in the house, often when she comes inside from the yard.
She slept well in her crate when she first arrived and she has graduated to her foster parents’ bed where she sleeps like the princess she is.
Prior to her arrival, she had several teeth removed so a diet of soft food is best for her.
Sunny would thrive in a home where she can be given the time she needs to settle and learn how to be a beloved family member.
