Looking for a little cuddle bug? Then look no further – meet Sammy, the very cute and friendly French Bulldog, who really wants a lap to snuggle right into and a face (or leg) l to give kisses to!

Sammy came into our rescue from Tennessee. He was found as a stray, with an eye injury that required surgical intervention. He had surgery, made his journey to Canada, and is now recovering nicely. He’s not a fan of the cone or eye drops, but he’ll accept it anyways!

Sammy LOVES people! He has made friends with every person that he’s met, whether it’s visitors to the house, or people he’s met on walks. He just wanted head scratches from everyone!

Sammy is generally pretty quiet, but he will join in with the other dogs when they bark, and he does get a little bit upset when his people leave his sight, but he’s getting better with that every day.

Sammy is house trained and knows to go to the bathroom outside, but he just hasn’t figured out how to ask. It might take a bit of time for him to get used to a routine when he goes to his new home, so heading outside with him frequently in his early days will set him up for success.

Sammy is currently crated overnight and settles fairly quickly. He gets free reign of the main floor if his foster parents have to step out during the day, and he’s done well. It’s recommended that when he gets to his new home, he will need a safe space where he can’t get into anything – he’s still a young boy, so he’s very curious and interested in new things that he finds around the house.

Sammy has bursts of energy, but he generally has a lower energy level. He will get some zoomies, and he’ll play with the other dogs, but he’s quite content to nap on the couch during the day.

With his smushy face and eye surgery recovery, his walks have been on the shorter side, but he loves them! He’s pretty good on the leash, but has reacted to some dogs walking near him, so his foster parents have been working on distracting him with high value treats to deter the behaviour. Working on this with him will be important when he goes to his new home.

Sammy doesn’t currently live with children, but he’s such a friendly guy that his foster parents don’t think it will be an issue with proper introductions! When he gets excited, he can be a bit jumpy, so it’s something to be aware of with younger children.

With some love and guidance, Sammy will flourish! As long as you don’t mind a cuddly little shadow, with a funny bark who loves to give kisses, he’s the guy for you!
