Sally is an absolutely adorable, incredibly resilient little miniature schnauzer who is discovering what it means to be a cherished family dog! This resilient former puppy mill mama has made remarkable progress in foster care.

Sally loves people, gentle affection, treats, cozy dog beds, and following her humans around the house. She is friendly and non-aggressive, enjoys being petted, and may offer a tiny lick or nudge when she wants more.
Smart and playful, Sally dances for treats and greets her favourite people with happy spins. She has a lovely little howl that she particularly enjoys demonstrating whenever she hears a siren in the distance. She is generally quiet but may bark at dogs on television or across the street. She has not had formal obedience training but she is bright, curious, and treat motivated.

Sally is calm and well behaved indoors. She prefers staying on the floor for now and is still gaining confidence with couches, ramps, being picked up, and car travel. She sleeps peacefully in her own bed in a gated area beside her foster sister, often cuddling with her by morning. She may whine briefly when left alone but settles afterward. She has only been alone for a few hours at a time, so her independence should be built gradually.

Sally has had only one accident shortly after arriving. She currently goes outside four times daily and can hold her bladder overnight. Because she does not yet signal when she needs to go out, her family must maintain a consistent schedule while teaching her how to communicate.

Sally is still learning leash walking and stairs. She can manage a few steps with encouragement, but adopters may need to carry her until she becomes confident.

A securely fenced yard is strongly preferred. Without one, she will need regular exercise—ideally two or three walks daily as her leash skills improve. Sally has a strong prey drive and may pull toward squirrels or other small animals. Because she can be skittish, she should be treated as a potential flight risk, supervised carefully, equipped with properly fitted walking gear, and never allowed off-leash in an unfenced area.

Sally gets along beautifully with her small foster sister and would likely benefit from a friendly, confident canine companion, though she may also do well as an only dog. Her compatibility with cats is unknown, and her prey drive warrants caution around cats and other small animals.

Although gentle, Sally is easily startled by sudden noises and movement. A home without very young children is preferred; older, dog-savvy children who respect her boundaries may be a good fit.

Sally needs patient adopters who will provide a predictable routine, affection, exercise, positive-reinforcement training, and gradual exposure to new experiences. A fenced yard and compatible dog would be wonderful bonuses, but a dedicated family able to meet her needs in other ways could also be a good match.

In return, Sally offers affection, intelligence, happy dances, gentle nudges, musical howls, and irresistible schnauzer eyebrows. If you are ready to help a remarkable little dog continue building confidence, Sally may be the one for you.
