Rusty has all the traits of a wonderful dog. He loves all the people he meets (sometimes with a bit too much enthusiasm!), loves all dogs, cat friendly, house trained and learning his basic commands. He would love a young energetic family, with an existing playful wrestling partner, that can take the time to exercise and teach him as he grows into adulthood.

Rusty gets along with dogs of all sizes, and while he knows when another dog has had enough, he really does require another dog who matches his energy level and would enjoy playing most of the time. At doggy daycare he bounds around, runs with toys and play bows to engage the other dogs in play. He’s everyone’s best buddy. He even gets along with the foster home cat too.

Rusty is house trained and crated trained (his crate is his sleeping spot, and he’s lights out until his humans get up in the morning). He loves to be near his people and wants to be nearby and involved, whether that is inside hanging out, or outdoors doing things in the yard. Rusty will require a large, fenced yard that he can run and do zoomies. Rusty loves to go for walks, loves to play ball… so whether it’s hiking trails or the park, he is happy to join.

Rusty is doing well with his commands and is food motivated, the sky is the limit for teaching him new things. He’s smart and likes to be busy, which typical for northern mixed dogs. He would not do well in a home that he is crated for most of the day, he can be a little dramatic when his people leave him (so shared living spaces/condos/apartments would be a no) or with someone who doesn’t enjoy walking, playing or being pretty active with their dog. He is young and energetic and will need outlets for that each day. He also loves to chew… and is learning what is ok to nibble on and what is a no-no. Bones and sturdy toys are a must for this guy.

Rusty is the sweetest good-natured boy! He is simply happy all the time and ready for some adventure.
