Hi, I’m Pat, a 7 year old guy originally from Ohio. I’ve been in Toronto for a couple of weeks now and I have to admit, it’s way better here! I’m loving living in a house and having access to so many soft surfaces like dog beds, sofas and of course my foster parents’ big bed.
I am really good at doing my bathroom business outside, I am still learning that it’s not cool to do it inside. I forget sometimes and think I need some more consistency. I watch my foster dog siblings a lot and learn from them. They are much older than I am so we don’t play together but one lets me sleep next to him sometimes. I think a home with another dog would be a really good thing for me.
I am learning to walk on a leash. Currently my foster mom uses a pretty short leash so that I can’t walk in front of her and trip her. I am a really good walker – I like to walk, none of that sniffing-every-blade-of-grass for me. Because of that, I think I need a home with a fenced yard so I can roam freely to do my business. I’m a small guy, so it doesn’t need to be a large yard.
I’ve been told that if there were awards for Best Cuddler, I would win it for sure! I’m happiest on top of my person but I’ll settle for being close by. I don’t love being alone but my foster mom makes me spend time without her each day. She says it’s to help me learn to be alone. But I’m really never alone because my foster canine siblings and the resident cat (that I regularly ignore) are here as well.
The vet I saw before I came to Canada said I have a grade 1 heart murmur, I think it is inconsequential but something you should know about me.
I like to eat so I’m having fun putting on some weight – when I arrived, my ribs were so prominent but I’m working on getting some insulation before winter comes!
I am looking for a forever family, whether that’s a family with children, or only adults. I’ve been around a few kids and I’m super gentle. My main requirements are for someone to love me and have a yard for me along with another dog-sibling. In return, I will love and shower you with kisses and let you Pat (I’m a punny dog) me as much as you want.
