Sponsored by Sue McCarthy – In memory of Jude. Our first adoption from Save Me Dog Rescue.. He was such a gentle, trusting spirit. Still tear up when thinking of him.
Paloosa, the black and white mini golden doodle is one of those near perfect dogs. Paloose arrived into foster care on June 13th and instantly made herself at home. She has not looked back on her years in a puppy mill in Ohio, and seems to have forgiven everyone for her past life. She is a happy dog who loves the attention of her foster Mom and Dad, adores the adult kids in the home and is very playful with the resident dogs and cats. Hesitant at first, Paloosa has now mastered going up and down stairs, on and off furniture, and has fallen in love with snuggles on a bed. She responds well to her name and comes (almost always) when called. Paloosa loves to go on walks and MUST bring a stuffy in her mouth for the walk. Paloosa does feel responsible to keep bunnies and squirrels in line, they peak her interest and given the chance I am sure would chase them. She does a little barking at both people and dogs but is quickly settled. Once in your home, Paloosa does do a little pacing, appearing like excited energy…searching for a toy to chew although shoes, TV remotes, slippers and empty bags are fun to chew also. Paloosa sleeps throughout the night, and naps periodically during the day. Her house training is a work in progress, I feel she has been house trained before, she mostly goes outside, but will not ask to go out. So far, lots of trips outside, and the positive reinforcement when going outside has made many accident free days.
During the very comprehensive vetting Save Me does prior to our dogs arriving into our foster homes, it was discovered that Paloosa tested positive for Lyme. Paloosa is receiving a course of doxycycline which will do the trick and she will be good as new. Paloosa is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all her vaccines.
Paloosa’s forever home is an easy one…she has a way about her, inserting herself into your life like she has always been there. Dogs, cats, kids, or none of those things, Paloosa will thrive and be happy welcoming daily walks, fun playing with toys, balls and a cozy lap to squeeze onto. Those of you who do not like dog kisses need not apply!
