Oriana the Golden Doodle!

This petite, quiet, curly haired sweetheart is ready to find her forever home. Oriana is a little confused by all the changes happening lately which is making her a little timid….at first. She is constantly following the people around the house looking for guidance and comfort. However, every day she is making progress, getting confidence, settling in and showing her true personality.

Oriana has spent the first few days wandering around the house tail wagging and smiling at everyone. She showed very little interest in the family dog who was trying so hard to get her to play, but all she wanted was the attention from the humans. After a few days, she has started to settle in and is starting to show signs that she might play with the other dog. She is working up her courage to start exploring the backyard on her own, but constantly comes back to check in.

She walks well on a leash, constantly checking to make sure she is still with you. When we pass people on the street, she stops and stares at them with a big smile hoping they’ll stop and give her attention. Her tail never stops wagging! She loves going with her foster family to the school bus stop in the mornings where she gets all kinds of attention from the other families there. Best time of day!

As each day passes with her foster family, she is getting more and more comfortable with the routine and all of the comforts of a home. There is a big comfy chair in front of the fireplace that she has claimed for her naps where she snoozes the days away.

She was essentially house trained when she arrived, just a few accidents as we worked out communication and timing. Being able to follow the owners dog outside and learn the ropes has really helped.

It is a work in progress to teach her not to steal food off tables and counters. She seems to think if its food and smells good it’s fair game for her. So, her foster family is being very diligent on leaving anything unattended or in her reach. She doesn’t seem to know very many commands, but really wants to please.

Initially it seemed like she was wary of men, but in a few days she has come to trust the men in the foster home.

She has proven that she can be left free to roam when no one is home and she is fine. She spent the first night in a crate and she was fine. By the second next night and she was not having it, she insisted on being left loose in the house to choose her own sleeping spot. She very rarely makes a noise, but definitely made it known that she does not want to be left in the crate. By morning she usually can be found in the kids rooms snoozing peacefully.

Generally, Oriana spends her days in the home happy and content. She is a very easy dog to take care of. She just wants lots of love and cuddles with naps in between. She isn’t very high energy or barks much. She just wants to be your companion and if you will let her, she will crawl up and lay on your lap while you watch your favourite tv show.
