Merle is learning all about life. He came into care very shut down, afraid to move, but is now running around the yard and playing with toys. He has become quite comical the braver he gets.
This handsome guy has a beautiful white and brownish-grey coat. He had some teeth removed during his recent dental and you often see his tiny tongue poking out the front of his mouth. Its adorable.
Merle has picked up on house training really well. With regular trips outside, he doesn’t have any accidents. He keeps his crate clean over night as well. Very impressive.
He is a light eater and isn’t very food motivated, but he loves to be told he’s a good boy and the excitement you show him seems reward enough to him for a job well done.
Merle has mastered going up stairs but still needs help getting back down. He is not a huge fan of the leash, so public walks are not on the table yet, but he loves the backyard. Especially if you go out with him and walk around. He also likes to lay outside on the deck and makes a great morning coffee partner out there too.
He’s not sure what to make of cuddling, but if it’s as good as ear scratches, he’ll come around to it soon enough. He loves ears and neck scratches… literally melts.
He is a nervous guy around new people, but he is gentle and it’s just a matter of exposure and positive interactions. He would do best with older children who can respectful and calm. He seems to be more comfortable with women than men, so he’d make a great lady’s companion. His ideal adopter will be patient as he gains confidence, but will also encourage him to be brave and explore new things. He could use his owning cheerleader.
