Megan is the sweetest 6-year-old Cavalier who came to our rescue after spending the first part of her life in a puppy mill.
She is everything Cavaliers are known for: gentle, affectionate, quirky, and everyone’s best friend.
In the short time she has been in our home, she has quickly come out of her shell and shown us what a loving dog she is. She wins over every person by sitting directly at their feet and staring up at them with her big eyes until they cave and give her some head scratches, her favourite thing in the world.
She is currently more comfortable outside off leash than on, so a yard would be ideal. However, we are also open to homes without a yard as long as they understand that she still needs some confidence building before she is ready for walks. Based on her past, she currently prefers the safety of being indoors. Trips outside are usually quick, with her running back to the door as soon as she has gone to the bathroom. She is changing every day, though, and I imagine it will not be long before she is more comfortable outside and ready to go on adventures with her family.
She is crate trained, and we currently use an exercise pen when we are unable to keep an eye on her as she is still working on her housetraining. She has not had an accident in a few days, but I think that is largely due to the routine we have established. She already knows to go as soon as she gets outside, so with routine and encouragement, it will not be long before she is fully housetrained.
Megan does appear to have some food-related allergies and will lick her feet when they flare up. We currently have her on a fish-based diet, and it has helped, but her future family should be aware that this may be something they need to continue working through to find the right diet for her.
Megan is truly as sweet as they come, and we cannot wait to find her the perfect home. Her future family will get the joy of watching her grow in confidence as she settles into life as a spoiled house dog.
