July

Shih Tzu – Female – 9 lbs  5 yrs (approx)

Sponsored by Theresa Naus -to celebrate the most incredible (almost) 5 years with my soul dog Bubba who passed in January 2026. There will never be another like him. Thank you for all the love you give at Save Me Rescue

They say great things come in small packages. In July’s case, this could not be more true. July is a 9 lb former mill mama with very limited experience as a dog.

July arrived at our home as a foster on March 21. She was terrified of every sound and movement. Fast forward a couple of weeks, July has blossomed into a happy, bouncy little girl who wags her tail so fast it is just a blur.

July has a good appetite but does prefer to take her food away from the bowl and eat in private. She has her favourite bed that she loves, and can be found curled up sleeping soundly many times throughout the day. Her favourite place to relax is in your lap, watching TV, half under the covers. July sleeps through the night, and will awake when the other dogs do. She adores sleeping with her humans and will bark if left alone. July has learned to climb only two steps…maneuvering by hopping up or down them in the most comical way. July expresses her distaste for things by small grunts….before she runs off to be by herself. She has discovered the outdoors, loves to rub her face and body on the grass. Because she is still learning.. a leaf or a bird will startle her and she runs for the house. July is working on her housetraining, loves to be praised for doing her business outside.

July has been spayed, has had a dental, is microchipped and is up to date on all her vaccines.

July’s perfect home will require patience and understanding (of her past), a home that is quiet would be ideal. Sudden movements and or loud noises still scare July. She has grown so much, I am so proud of this brave girl. She has so much more to learn, I think it will be a fun journey for a family willing to take things slow and reap the rewards!
