Meet Jake, a gentle, curious boy with a soft heart and a brave spirit. After spending the first five years of his life in a puppy mill being used for breeding, Jake is learning what it means to feel safe, cared for, and part of a family.

Jake is a quiet, reserved dog who takes his time getting to know the world. He will need patience, consistency, and plenty of time to become comfortable with new people, places, and experiences. He may always be a more reserved dog, and his family will need to celebrate him for who he is as he may never be an outgoing social butterfly.

There is plenty of joy inside this quiet boy, and with the people he knows and trusts, his playful side comes out in the sweetest ways. He has exuberant zoomies in the yard, celebrates with a few favourite toys, enjoys gentle affection, and loves going wherever his people are going. He is an undemanding companion who is happiest simply being near those he trusts, quietly observing the world and sharing their day.

Jake is house-trained, quiet, non-destructive, neutered, up to date on vaccines, and had a dental in July 2026. He enjoys backyard exploring, chewing sticks, car rides, sniffy walks in familiar areas, and quiet naps.

New sights, sounds, people, and places can still be overwhelming. Jake is particularly cautious with unfamiliar people, especially men. Introductions need to be calm, slow, and guided by his comfort level.

Jake’s ideal home is adult-only, calm, and patient, in a quiet neighbourhood with a securely fenced yard. A fenced yard is a must as this is where he truly comes alive.

A relaxed, well-balanced dog could be a wonderful companion and role model for Jake and may help him feel more comfortable navigating the world, although it is not required. Jake has not been formally tested with cats, but has shown no prey drive toward outdoor critters, only light curiosity, so we are quite confident he could live happily with cats with an appropriate introduction.

Jake is looking for a forever family who will move at his pace, celebrate the little victories, and give him the space he needs to feel secure. In the right home, this tender-hearted boy has so much love to give and all the makings of a loyal, gentle companion who will quietly and happily share his days with the people he trusts
