Jackson is a gentle sweetheart that arrived from Tennessee on July 11th. He is a a social dog who loves meeting new people. All that have met him cannot believe how calm he is, he is a respectful dog who doesn’t jump, bark or lick the people he meets, just wants them to pet him and indicates this by a gentle bop to your hand.
This calm mini poodle is weighing in at a whopping 13.5 pounds and our vet has aged him between 8-10 years old. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines.
Jackson loves to be around his people, we call him our shadow. He is the best cuddle bug and would love to spend all of his day on a comfy lap.
Jackson loves other dogs and has ignored a cat. He gets along well with respectful children, and doesn’t mind a busy household. Jackson is house trained, but could have accidents if left in a big space alone, he is used to being in the kennel or small room when left. He won’t bark to be let out, but instead just look outside by the door as his sign.
Unlike most small dogs, Jackson does not generally bark during the day, but he does have separation anxiety and this is the only time he will bark. He is best suited in a house until he learns to relax while the humans are out as he may disturb other units in a building. Although he really doesn’t know any tricks yet and not a very active dog, he comes when he is called and loves to follow you around in a secured yard. He has now mastered a flight of stairs, but is still a little nervous or clumsy with them.
Jackson is kennel trained and does sleep in a kennel at night. He settles quickly as long as he can see his humans. Jackson is not food motivated but does love to hear that he is a good boy.
Jackson’s perfect home would have humans that are home most of the time, another dog or cat for companionship and respectful children. If your lap is empty and you are looking for the best cuddler, Jackson is your best boy!

As happens with older gentlemen, like Jackson, he has a few medical issues that need to be monitored. Jackson has some mildly elevated kidney values and it has been recommended that Jackson be on a kidney support or senior diet as these are lower in protein. We have had him on the canned K/D diet and he should have repeat bloodwork to monitor his kidneys in 6 months (January 2027). Jackson has a moderate heart murmur (grade 3) and we did a series of X-rays which showed his heart is of normal appearance and there are no signs of congestive heart failure. No concerns were found and this is also something to be monitored at his yearly check ups. Lastly, as so often happens in smaller dogs, Jackson has low grade (1-2) luxating patellas and we have started him on an omega supplement (which is also good for his heart). Low grade luxating patellas do not require surgery. It is important that Jackson is maintained at a healthy weight and that high protein and salty foods/treats be avoided. He is an amazing boy at the veterinarian!
