Hyacinth

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel – Female – 21 lbs – 5 yrs (approx)

Sponsored by Kelly Taylor – Sponsored in honour and memory of the beloved Harley Davidson from the Malofy pack with love and sympathy Kelly Taylor.

Hyacinth is a sweet girl, who is learning about the world and learning to trust people. She is learning and opening up quickly but she would benefit from a quiet home with adults who can be patient with her as she comes out of her shell and learns to trust. Hyacinth is doing really well with house training, she knows to go outside and is well on her way to being fully house trained. Hyacinth will also use a pee pad inside when the weather isn’t fantastic out (she is a little bit of a diva).

Hyacinth is fostered in a home with dogs and cats and would do well in a home with other respectful dogs that will give her space when needed, or in a home with cats as she shows no interest in them.

Hyacinth isn’t quite sure about toys, the loud noises can make her nervous. She is starting to snuggle up on her terms and needs some extra TLC to learn how to trust her people. Hyacinth doesn’t love being picked up but she does enjoying being around her people, her favourite spot is on the couch with a soft cozy blanket!

Hyacinth has a good appetite, she is missing teeth so she gets a mix of wet and dry food. She does enjoy softer treats as well, she isn’t sure about taking treats from your hand yet but is slowly learning she can take a treat from your hand.

Walking on a leash is new to Hyacinth, she will need someone who is patient with her as she learns how to be a dog and how to trust people.

Hyacinth overall is a very sweet and well mannered dog who is quiet and a great couch buddy! She would definitely appreciate a home where she can sleep in bed with her people.

Hyacinth does have a grade 2 heart murmur that will need to be monitored through her life. Cavaliers can be prone to cardiac issues so it’s important that adopters know she will need to be monitored for this. She has had a chest x-ray to rule out any current cardiac issues. Hyacinth also has a grade 2 luxating patella, which is very common in small breeds. Hyacinth does not need surgery for her luxating patella, however, it is important that she maintains a healthy weight for both her heart and knee.
