Sponsored by Gema & Craig, in honour of our two love bugs Woody (formerly Devin) and Dixie, Save me Rescue alumni, who over the last 3 years have brought so much joy to our family. We love you both with all our hearts and look forward to making more memories with you both.

Howie is the cutest little Bichon with a center part in his hair, a slight under bite and those dark eyes that make you melt. He is part lover with a touch of comedian thrown in. You will fall in love with instantly. He is nervous and cautious with some people he meets for the first time and yet with others he walks right up with no fear. It is only Howie logic on this decision. In time he becomes friends with everyone he meets and belly rubs will always be welcomed. He is a typical Bichon known for being affectionate to children, adults and any other furries. They were bred to be companions and he does his job well.

He is in good health, has had a full dental, shots up to date and is neutered. We are still working on his housetraining skills but he is showing great progress and now subtly lets me know he needs outside. I do use a diaper on him but the time he wears it is minimal. He is a smart little one and will master his housetraining quickly in his new home now that he understands the concept. Howie loves going for a walk and is great on a leash. He gets excited when I reach for it and will start spinning in circles. He also loves exploring outside and spends time sniffing and rolling in whatever he finds. Thankfully, he is also always agreeable to a quick brush out of whatever he wants to bring inside. His coat is low-shedding, hypoallergenic, and must be groomed on a regular basis to keep it free from matting. He uses a slow feeder bowl to lessen the pace when he eats. Treats are always received with an ever so gentle mouth. His favorite treat is and will always be your attention.

Howie is gentle, curious, funny, and quiet. The only time I have heard any noise from him is when he doesn’t know where his buddy Caryn is or where I am. He will cry and sometimes bark until he realizes he is not alone. This separation anxiety is a reflection of his past living situation. His new family will need to be patient as he works through this. I am hoping initially to find a home where someone is available to spend little time away until his confidence is built up and he feels safe.

So, if you are looking for a playful, intelligent, highly social family member, Howie may be the one for you. Could you be his “Happy Ever After?

Just a thought. Room for two? Check out his pal Caryn. Howie and Caryn obviously have some history together. They came together and follow each other around like shadows. Double the cuteness, double the fun!! They are being adopted separately…. but …… just a thought.
