Sponsored by Heather, in loving memory of Buster, our first rescue. Buster was found wandering the streets in the darkness of a cold, rainy October night; discarded as if he was nothing, Buster was Bear’s bestest buddy and completed our family turning our house into a warm, loving home.

How to describe Henry?
Sweet, gentle, shy, unsure.. curious, playful, comical, bashful.

Henry came from a mill situation where he was used for breeding. Inside life is all new to him, quite frankly outside life seems to be new as well. During his first few days, Henry simply froze in whatever spot he was put in. Now, on days he’s feeling safe and secure, he does zoomies around the backyard! He likes to stretch out and roll in the grass. He loves chew bones and is even considering stuffies as potential toys. He loves his dog bed and can often be found napping there. OH, he LOVES mealtime and he’s good at pushing around the treat ball to get rewards too!

While he is still nervous in different situations, Henry is learning how wonderful it feels to be pet and get ear scratches. A slow approach is best or simply sitting down and letting him come to you seems to be the way to his heart. His ideal home would be calm but would encourage him to play and engage. At this point, due to his unsure nature, a home with kids would not be ideal but visiting kids would be ok.

Henry sleeps in his dog bed, in his xpen area. He is now holding his bathroom business overnight as well. Henry is mostly house trained but needs to be taken outside regularly. He doesn’t know how to ask to go out. He would be fine left alone for periods, but we would recommend an xpen or crate until he perfects his house training. Henry will need a fenced yard in his forever home, since he is not ready to try leash walking just yet (let alone trying to bathroom on leash).

Henry would be fine with or without an existing dog in the home, however he would do best with a laid-back lower energy dog. He has not been cat tested, but he would probably do fine with a cat friend.

This boy is just the sweetest little shy guy. He is starting to come out of his shell and over time he will blossom into a wonderful little companion. Watching him learn to play and run has been so heartwarming.
