Meet Greta

Tiny, adorable, non-shedding and happiest with a canine friend by her side, Greta is a wonderful little dog looking for the right home to continue her journey.

Greta is a 7-year-old Havanese weighing just 4.5 kg (10 lbs). She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, has had her dental work completed and is in good health. She is also non-shedding and pee-pad trained (& making progress outdoor).

And this little girl has discovered that she LOVES going for walks! After spending most of her life without the chance to explore the world, Greta now happily heads outside and is making up for lost time. She is doing wonderfully on leash and loves getting out to sniff, explore and see what the world has to offer.

A dog who LOVES other dogs – Greta currently lives with two other dogs and absolutely thrives in their company. She watches what they do, follows their lead and looks to them for reassurance when she isn’t quite sure about something. She would be a fantastic second or even third dog for a household that already has a friendly, confident dog looking for a tiny sidekick.
Having another dog isn’t simply something Greta enjoys—it is an important part of helping her feel safe and navigate the world. Her forever home will need to have at least one friendly resident dog.

And bedtime? She’s got that figured out – Greta has discovered one of the very best things about family life: sleeping in the human bed. At bedtime, she happily heads to bed with her people and sleeps quietly through the night. For a little dog who had never known the comforts of a home before, she has adapted remarkably well to some of its best perks!

She’s learning what it means to be a family dog. Greta spent the first seven years of her life in a puppy mill, where she was used for breeding. She was only recently rescued, so almost everything about living in a home and being someone’s pet is new to her.

Despite that history, Greta is a smart little cookie and a remarkably quick study. She has already learned so much simply by watching the dogs around her, and it has been wonderful to see her personality emerge as she discovers her new life.

With people, Greta is still a work in progress. She is curious but can initially be cautious and needs time to decide that someone is safe. She increasingly joins the other dogs when everyone is getting attention and is learning that humans can be pretty great too. She is still uncomfortable with being picked up. Her adopter will need to respect that boundary while patiently helping her become more comfortable with handling at her own pace.

The home Greta is looking for: Greta needs a patient, dog-savvy family with another friendly dog and a secure yard where she can safely enjoy her newfound freedom.

She isn’t looking for someone to teach her everything overnight. She needs someone who can give her the time and security to keep learning at her own pace—and who will enjoy watching this funny, clever little 10-pound dog discover just how good life can be.

Greta has already come such a long way. Now she just needs the family who will help her write the rest of her story.
