It is official: Mazy May is home to stay!
When this sweet, 5-year-old Havanese first came to us as a foster, the plan was simply to care for her until she found her forever home. But when it came time to write her adoption bio after two weeks, the words just wouldn’t flow. I couldn’t seem to write the perfect description for someone else to read—likely because, deep down, my heart was already refusing to let her go. While trying to figure out what to say, I wrote about the things she was looking for in a family:
“I’m looking for a patient, gentle human who will promise to look at me and say, ‘She will be brave, she will do more dog things, she will learn to fully trust and love.’ If you are willing to guide me, I promise to give you my whole heart.”
I read that paragraph dozens of times. Every single time, the realization became clearer. I looked at her and finally said, “I am your person….you picked me from the first day. You will be brave, you will do more dog things, you will learn to fully trust and love, and YOU will be OUR Mazy May.”
I truly believe my soul dog, Hazel, had everything to do with this. Hazel cleared the path and made sure a foster spot was open right when Mazy needed it most. It feels like a beautiful gift from Hazel, guiding this little soul directly to where she was always meant to be.
