Little Ellie is now ready to find her forever home.

She had lived her entire life in a puppy mill, that was finally closed down. Like most mill dogs, this greatly limited her socialization and life experience.

For the first few days after her arrival in our care, Ellie was shut down. But with trust, freedom and love, she is beginning to see what a dog’s life is really like. Ellie currently eats wet food from a slightly raised dish, no metal bowls. While she hasn’t caught onto sharing or cuddling with other dogs yet, she loves the comfort of her raised bed.

Since Ellie has been in our care, she has been spayed, had 4 teeth extracted, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, and had pre-op blood work. She is a healthy little lady. During Ellie’s check up it was found that she has a low grade heart murmur (2/6). We followed up with a chest x-ray and her heart is of normal size and there were no concerns with her moving forward with surgery. This is considered a mild murmur and it should be monitored at her regular vet visits. Like all dogs, it’s important for Ellie to stay at a healthy weight which is important for her cardiac, and overall, health.

She’s a sweet little girl who would enjoy a backyard to wander and run in. Her house training is coming along really well, and yard access will help with that too. She has learned some basic commands and can now go upstairs.
