Meet Ellie — part Shih Tzu, part mountain lion?

Ellie is a beautiful black-and-white Shih Tzu currently living in Toronto. She’s 9 lbs, 6 years old, fully vaccinated and spayed. Ellie is non-shedding and currently sporting a short cut, but with regular grooming appointments, her coat could be grown out into the glorious long Shih Tzu style.

Although her papers say Shih Tzu, Ellie has been showing us that she may have a little mountain lion in her too! Her agility is impressive, and she has been showing off some of her cat-like skills. This girl is a natural!

Ellie came from a puppy mill that was recently shut down, so she can be timid at first and needs time to settle in. She is a very sweet and gentle girl who is already starting to come to us for pets, treats, and belly rubs.

One of the sweetest things about Ellie is that she really comes alive when she is outside. She loves going for walks, exploring the parks, greeting other dogs, and has even started going up to some people to say hello. She is curious and discovering the world around her; everything is still very new to her!

Ellie’s ideal adopter will have a quiet, calm home with a backyard to help continue her potty training. We think she would do best with one other easygoing, happy dog who can help show her what it means to be a loved family pet.

With patience and time to adjust at her own pace, we believe Ellie will become a wonderful companion. We will be carefully reviewing applications and prioritizing the home that most closely matches the needs described in her bio.
