Meet Eddie….but really, he should be called “happy”. His tail never stops wagging.
He came into foster frozen in fear, but his tail was always wagging. He wanted to be friends but was so very scared. He was given time and space, after a few days he came around. He is still very skittish, but has become an active little thing, full of personality. Your shoes? They will magically move around the house. Your socks? One will just show up on his pillow. He likes to find little treasures and move them to his pillow when you aren’t looking. He is a bit mischievous and has a wicked side eye. He is a goofy little thing, hasn’t shown any grumpy chi side of him yet. So far he is just a big goof and full of energy running around the house. He loves getting attention, will even let you rub his belly.
He still runs away to his “safe” spot when people are walking around but he waits for you there to pet him or pick him up. He has gotten brave enough to follow the humans around the house. But don’t look at him or he runs back. It has become a game for him. He is getting braver and braver, eventually he will get more confident and comfortable.
He will do his business when he gets taken outside. If you miss the window, he Will gladly go in the house. He knows what to do outside, just not that he is meant to ask to go out.
He hasn’t gone on walks out in public yet, it would probably be too overwhelming for him just yet. We don’t want him to get spooked. He is starting to get comfortable exploring the far corners of the yard. He is so happy to get attention that he will bounce back to the house when called. For now. Once he gets really comfortable in his new house his listening skills may stop working. He is a Chihuahua after all. They tend to do as they wish.
We currently haven’t experienced any food or resource guarding issues. He is just so happy to be here he isn’t really bothered by anything.
He didn’t bark for the longest time but then finally found the courage to test out his voice. He hasn’t barked very much, only when a visitor has come into the house and he isn’t sure.
His foster house has a big husky mix, and Eddie isn’t the slightest bit bothered… aside from one play time incident when the husky thought Eddie might enjoy a game of chase (he found that a bit overwhelming… he prefers slower paced fun play).
He has found the back of the couch to be a perfect spot for him watch the world and curl up for a nap. He will eventually be a lap dog once he has some time to really settle and bond with his people.
He is a sweetheart and would make a great friend for most families. Being that he is only 8lbs, he would do best in a home with older kids. He is more of a lap dog, not ideal if you are looking for a dog park, ball chasing family dog.
He is a squirmy, wiggly, happy little bundle of silly. He has really started to figure out the comforts of life in a house and is kind of enjoying it. He would love to curl up on the couch in front of the fireplace with you.
