Donatello

Miniature Poodle – Male – 7 lbs – 1 yr (approx.)

Sponsored by the McCarthy family because every animal deserves a loving home.

Hello, my name is Donatello but foster mom calls me Donnie all the time and I answer to it. I am looking forward to getting my own family. I am a mini poodle and about 7 pounds. I am about a year old but I don’t have a lot of energy. I am quite timid and tend to back away from being picked up. However, if foster mom picks me up, I will cuddle with her but I am also happy to nap on the couch or in my bed. While I haven’t met any children, foster mom thinks I would be fine with respectful children. I haven’t figured out toys although foster mom saw me sneak one the other day. My appetite is good but I am reluctant to take a treat.

Foster mom says I learn quickly. I have figured out these things called stairs and I am getting used to a leash. House trained is a work in process. I know I need to go outside but if you don’t get me out there right away, well, what can I say? We haven’t tried out this thing called a walk.

Foster mom has two smaller dogs and several cats. I try to get the dogs to play and they have played a bit. I have met some of foster mom’s cats and just ignored them.

Foster mom has tried different things for while she is out. I don’t like being home alone and will cry a lot so apartment living isn’t for me. I was eating a baby gate so she tried putting me in a crate but I hated it. Recently, I knocked down a baby gate and was happily sleeping on the couch when she came home so hopefully, she will let me stay there again.

The ideal home for me could have another similar sized dog but foster mom thinks I would also be okay as an only dog. Because I cry when I am alone, it would be best if you are home most of the time and live in a house. You need to be patient with me as I learn to trust people. If you have cats or respectful children, I would be okay with that.

I hope to meet you soon.
